Negligence at Local Police Station Leads to Rising Crime and Public Frustration

According to the report, the Station House Officer (SHO) at the local police station has failed to deliver justice effectively. His frequent absence from duty, under the pretext of attending meetings with senior officials, has become a routine issue. This prolonged absence leaves cases unresolved for months, causing frustration for citizens.

Investigations are often delayed, with inquiries dragging on without results. In many instances, complainants and accused individuals, exhausted from delays and financial losses, settle matters privately. This approach conveniently absolves the officials from accountability, allowing them to avoid concluding investigations properly.

Every day, dozens of complainants gather at the police station, hoping to meet the SHO, only to leave disappointed when he fails to appear. This persistent lack of availability has created frustration among citizens, making them question the reliability of law enforcement in the area.

Due to these administrative failures, criminal activity has increased. Theft, robbery, and other crimes are now rampant, and even the police station is not immune to lawlessness. In recent incidents, two motorcycles were stolen from within the premises of the station itself. Although formal reports were registered, there has been no meaningful progress in the investigations.

Residents report that the lack of police action has emboldened criminal gangs, turning the area into a hotspot for crime. The community has now made an appeal to the Chief Police Officer (CPO) of Gujranwala to intervene urgently. There is a growing demand for immediate action to address the negligence and restore order. People are calling for stricter oversight and a reassessment of law enforcement performance to bring stability to the area.
