An 18-year-old girl was assaulted by her father in Arafwala, Pakpatan, Punjab; the accused has been arrested, but family refuses to file a case.
Father Assaults 18-Year-Old Daughter
In a disturbing incident in the Fareed Shah area of Thana Ahmad Yar, Arafwala, an 18-year-old girl became the victim of sexual assault at the hands of her own father. The accused has been arrested, but the girl’s relatives have refused to take legal action. The girl herself has given a statement to the police, revealing that the accused, Shaban, had been assaulting her for two years. The police have registered a case under the name of local landlord, Tahir Hussain Shah. Based on the orders of DPO Tariq Waliat, the accused has been taken into custody, and the investigation has been handed over to a special team.
Details of the Case
According to the written complaint, Tahir Hussain Shah stated that he works as a landlord and had given accommodation to the accused, Shaban, at his agricultural land, where Shaban, along with his family, was residing. On the night of November 8-9, 2024, at 12:00 AM, Tahir, along with his companions Mehndi Hassan and Syed Asad Imam, visited the property. As they approached the area near the tube well, they heard the sound of crying from the southern side of the wall. They used a flashlight to investigate and saw Shaban forcibly raping his own daughter, Sajida Bibi, who was struggling to resist. On seeing them, the accused fled the scene. The victim, Sajida, informed them that Shaban had been assaulting her for the past two years and had threatened to kill her if she spoke out.
Accused’s Confession
Due to the sensitivity of the case, Tahir arranged a panchayat meeting the following day, where the accused, Shaban, was confronted in the presence of witnesses. During the meeting, Shaban admitted to assaulting his daughter and asked for forgiveness. However, before any further action could be taken, Shaban fled. Tahir immediately called the police, and they arrived at the scene.
Relatives Refuse to File Complaint
Despite the severity of the crime, none of Sajida’s close relatives were willing to officially file a complaint against the accused. In his complaint, Tahir Hussain Shah called for legal action to ensure that the accused faces justice for his actions.
