Punjab Farmers Reject Government’s Tax: Protest Plans in Response
Farmers in Punjab are rejecting the new tax imposed by the government, calling it unfair. They are planning protests as the tax burden grows.
Farmers Reject Punjab Government's Forced Tax Policy
Farmer organizations have strongly rejected the harsh and forced tax that the Punjab government plans to impose. They argue that due to the government's poor policies, farmers are already struggling and unable to pay such taxes.
Details of the New Agricultural Taxes
The Punjab government has introduced taxes on farmers and agricultural workers. This includes a tax on agricultural income and the purchase of livestock. The tax structure includes a 15% tax on income ranging from 6 to 12 lakh, a fixed tax of 90,000 on income from 12 to 16 lakh, 6.5 lakh on 32 lakh income, and 16 lakh on income from 32 to 56 lakh. These new taxes are being seen as a significant financial burden on farmers, who are already facing numerous challenges due to inflation and rising production costs.
Farmers Vow to Protest Against the Tax
Farmer leaders Amjad Ali Noul, Khalid Hussain Bath, Imran Ranjha, Muhammad Younis Ranjha, Amanat Ali Ranjha, Amanullah Ranjha, and Musharraf Ali Ranjha jointly stated that they disagree with the government's oppressive actions and will not accept this forced tax. They have announced that they will soon launch a protest across Punjab, where both small laborers and large landowners will participate. The farmers have made it clear that they will not back down until the government listens to their concerns and revises these unjust tax policies.
The Importance of Farmers in Society
Farmer play a crucial role in our social and economic structure. The fertility of the land and crop production keep our economy strong. Ignoring the agricultural sector and burdening farmers with extra taxes can destabilize our society. The government must adopt the right policies to ensure farmers get the rewards for their hard work and contribute positively to the country's economy. Without the farmers’ contributions, our food security and economy would be at risk. It's essential for the government to consider their challenges and support them in every way possible.
