Frequent power outages have brought businesses, industries, and agriculture to a halt. Families struggle for survival, workers face hunger, and livelihoods hang by a thread. Residents demand urgent action to end this chaos before it’s too late.
Residents Struggle as Power Cuts Disrupt Daily Life
Wazirabad (Correspondent): Unannounced and prolonged power outages have become a daily ordeal for the people of Wazirabad. Due to weekly permits granted for electrifying private housing schemes, locals are left without electricity, disrupting businesses, agriculture, and industries. For the past year, power cuts from 9 AM to 2 PM have been a regular occurrence, leaving industrial workers, shopkeepers, and laborers in despair, often struggling to provide even two meals a day for their families.
Businesses and Industries on the Verge of Collapse
Wazirabad, known for its cutlery production and home to countless small factories and workshops, heavily relies on electricity to operate. However, frequent power cuts and prolonged load shedding have brought industries to a standstill. Workers employed in these factories are left helpless as their source of livelihood diminishes. Shopkeepers and traders are also facing significant losses, with businesses struggling to function without electricity. The worsening situation has pushed many families to the brink of starvation.
Daily Life Disrupted in Urban and Rural Areas
The situation is no better in the surrounding rural areas. Both urban and rural communities are grappling with severe power shortages, making daily life unbearable. In Sub-Division No. 2, poor policies by the SDO have worsened the crisis, particularly for the agriculture sector. Farmers are unable to irrigate their lands, risking the destruction of crops and further damaging the local economy. Residents of homes without electricity suffer extreme discomfort, especially during long hours of power outages.
A Plea for Immediate Action
President of the Public Rights Protection Association, Asim Javed Janjua Advocate, along with other residents, has urged the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Minister of Energy to take immediate action. They demand an end to the power cuts and a resolution to the crisis so that people can earn a living and live their lives with dignity. The residents of Wazirabad hope for a swift solution to this issue that has left every aspect of their lives in turmoil.
