Punjab's Shocking War on Drugs: 100,000 Raids, Thousands Arrested, and Huge Seizures!
Punjab is intensifying its fight against drug trafficking, with thousands of raids, arrests, and impressive seizures. The government’s commitment to a drug-free society is evident in the significant steps being taken to protect communities and punish offenders, aiming to change the future of the province.
Punjab's Drug-Free Vision: A Strong Push Against Narcotics
Gujranwala (Dr. Mirza MB Qamar) – Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the vision of a drug-free Punjab is being actively pursued. The Punjab government is working tirelessly to combat drug trafficking and eradicate narcotics across the province. With the full support of the police and authorities, anti-narcotics operations have been accelerated.
Massive Raids and Arrests to Fight Drug Trafficking
This year alone, Punjab Police conducted 109,000 raids on drug dealers' hideouts, leading to the arrest of 63,529 individuals. A total of 56,059 cases have been filed against those involved in drug trafficking. These operations are part of a larger effort by the Punjab Police, under the supervision of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, to make Punjab drug-free.
Impressive Recoveries and Rehabilitation Efforts
Throughout these operations, Punjab Police has made significant recoveries. From drug traffickers, they seized 494,731 kilograms of hashish, 6,912 kilograms of heroin, 1,689 kilograms of opium, 455 kilograms of ice, and over 1.1 million liters of alcohol. Additionally, 1,283 individuals suffering from addiction were admitted to treatment centers for rehabilitation. This reflects the government's commitment not just to law enforcement, but also to addressing the public health aspects of drug abuse.
Targeting Hotspots and Educational Institutions
In the provincial capital alone, 9,624 raids were conducted, with 9,935 suspects arrested and 9,623 cases registered. In these operations, 7,494 kilograms of hashish, 272 kilograms of heroin, 454 kilograms of opium, 170 kilograms of ice, and over 66,000 liters of alcohol were recovered. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has ordered more efforts to target drug dealers and smugglers, especially around educational institutions and hostels. His goal is to ensure that all criminals involved in the drug supply chain are caught and severely punished.
Through these efforts, Punjab is taking significant steps toward achieving its vision of a drug-free society.
